I'm going to try fly-fishing this spring to summer for sure. After smelting, of course.

Is that a rock fish next to the eels, heard they have a white delicate meat. Not to fond of eels and yes they do very much taste like catfish but without the dirty muddy stank. We hooked into quite a bunch of  those fish off the pier on bodega bay up north one time, but never really cooked any, j/c what they taste like.

Yup rockfish is like any white meat fish. So far the best way that we've had the eel was when my dad cooked it with tomato and hmong herbs.

If you live near any Laos community have them make the watery larb out of that eel for you it's the bom, just not sure what they call it, but very similar to larb just very mushy goodness..Next time we'll have to take a few of the rock fish for consumption..

I have never fly-fished before. So, yes, it's going to be my first.

I heard it's a high-class kind of thing and that its lots of fun. Mostly trout fishing, right? Does it work with white bass and other fishes?

Well it's glorified a lot, not sure if I'd call it higher class. You can catch anything that is in relatively shallow water. As in any fish within 20-30ft of water, most times within the top 10ft. I'm sure you can catch whitebass, crappie, etc etc on fly. We've caught California Halibut from the ocean on fly rods.
