Title: Hardest thing people face when go through divorce..
Post by: Freeman on February 11, 2022, 01:22:06 PM
What is the hardest thing you face when go through divorce?

for me it's the decision making. I have been single for over two months now and I wish I made this decision 10 years ago when I was in my 30s.

That’s normally what people say when the divorce is final. We get lost in life and everything surrounding us but we failed to care and love ourselves first.

The hardest part for me personally was letting my princess know.

I'll throw a divorce party and I'll get wreck less

I have no problem with meeting women.  The hardest part is myself, I am not dating material   :2funny:

Hardest thing people face when go through divorce is the divorce itself.  After the divorce, healing, recovery and meeting new people/love, these must be real hard.  I"M GUESSING ONLY.

You still call her princess, bro?

To me, that would just be an ex.

I thought you were referring to the ex. :2funny:

Yeah. But  I don't know why that would be hard for you. Just bring her here instead of keeping her in NC. That's where you came from, right?

My daughter will always be my princess

Depends on the individual and circumstance as some folks don't find it hard at all. In fact, they look forward to divorce and even celebrate the occasion by throwing a divorce party:

You’re ok with her calling someone else “daddy”? I mean... um... you know, that ex is going to bring someone into her life or some guy is going to take that ex to the marital altar somehow.

For me its not life and death and its not end of life but its hard. I am an OG for this generation. I did anything possible just to save my marriage until I realized that the glass has been broken and its time to let go of everthing

I would be so heart-broken if my child calls another man "daddy" and forgets that I was her dad.

Good that your daughter seems to know things a bit now.

I feel you on that one. Depending on the age and status of the parent. If you’re a deadbeat kind, the young kids will call someone else dad.

If the kids are still too young, pop into their life by having them calling you uncle.  Saw it them movies before

That’s more appropriate. Than there are those who adopted the kids, do they call them daddy?

My child will never leave my care. If I got a child with a girlfriend, I'm fighting to keep that child. To do that, I suppose I'll have to keep the girlfriend, too.

It's good not to have any child with a woman who won't stick around.

In the Hmong culture, children are taught to call their step-parents, "mother" and "father"...

Unlike in this western culture where kids can choose to call their step-parents by their first names...

No matter what age? I think it’s changing now. I would not expect anyone to call me dad if they are not my child.

If she does t want to keep you than it’s another story lol out of your control.

That's why I want to know my woman before I give her a child...Can't just give a child to any woman out there, even if she's extremely hot.

Even if she promised you to never leave, that isn’t a guarantee. We’re human and human change their mind. People fall out of love all the time.

Yep, I remembered posting on PH about someone that's uncomfortable calling his step-mom, "mom" because she's actually a little younger than him when his dad went to Laos and brought her back to the states... ;D

But if he doesn't call her mom then it's treated as disrespecting his dad...by many in the Hmong community.

True, nothing is "guarantee" in life except death. We are all going to die, it's just a matter of when and how...

Yeah. But other guys don’t mind other kids calling them dad if the guys married those kids’ moms.

It’s not the promise I’m looking for, it’s something stronger.

40s is a difficult age to be divorced. You're not old enough to not give a f*ck about dating again, and you're too old to start dating again. You also may have children between ages 5-20. That means you will be dealing with young children, teens, and young adults.

Sometimes it's more logical to stay married and push through. You may not be happy in love but you can learn to live parallel lives.

I guess it all depends on why you're divorcing.

I would imagine the affect on the children and splitting up assets would be at the tops for me.
