Question of the day 6/21/19

On a scale of 1-10, how strict are/were you as parents?

Since today is a Friday...Yay!!!  I'm going to actually sit down, think, and post my thoughts.

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.........

Growing up my Father was a very strict man.  Couldn't go sleep over at friend's house, let alone just visiting them.  If I was out playing, only 1 hour was giving to me.  So, I settled with just my sisters, nephews, and cousins.  Sad isn't it.  As I grew older.....yeah, middle school years(teenagers).  The tension between my Father and I grew.  And I think I wasn't a bad kid to begin with.  I think his strictness has something to do with it.  It had gotten to a point where I left home and stayed with my uncle(not blood related) for a few days. 

Fast forward to present day America.  Now that I'm a Father to a 18 year old young man, a 12 and a 6 year old girls.  And now that Father is no longer with us, I can understand where my Father was coming from.  All in all, though, I don't think I am as strict as my Father.

Maybe we can meet up for PHO this weekend.  I'll be up there for a wedding.

daughter: dad, mom won't let me go but can I go out with my friends?
me: sure, you need a ride?

daughter: dad, i need some money.
me: how much?
daughter: just $20.
me:  here's $100

daughter: dad, i don't feel like going to school today.
me: no worries, i'll call in sick for you.

daughter: dad, there were these guys fighting for me at school, what should I tell them?
me: you tell them they would have to fight me, first...HA!

Which exactly?

I'm planning on going fishing by myself at my favorite lake either Saturday or Sunday. Won't be taking anything home but just catching for fun and releasing.

I can adjust. I can go fishing on Sunday or Saturday. It's just me, so I can change the schedule as I like. Plus, that lake...well, the fish won't run off to another lake just because I'm a day  late or so.

We can do FarEast or even one of those Hmong Village delis. (Because cops will come but won't be working or helping out, let's not go to Checkerbar.)

you brought up the hmong town festival on fb...maybe set up a tent, we come eat papaya! ha!

Too late to get a tent now. Registration has long passed.

But we could meet up at one of the mobile delis and eat papaya.

But that's not this weekend. It's the weekend after.

I'll be up there probably around 8pm or so today.  We'll be staying in the Bloomington area.  My girls would more than likely want to go swimming once when we get there.  So, I'll take them.  I'll see if I can sneak away for a couple hours on Saturday.....b efore or after the event.  I'll let you guys know.

lol, yes.  Just found out that the event will be noon.  So, probably not in the morning as I’ll have to go and help prep.  Let’s shoot for sometime in the afternoon.  Ok

A client just called. She has an emergency because her husband just go into a fight with three guys and he is in the hospital. (Not Hmong.) I will have to attend to their family's needs tomorrow early to late afternoon. So, likely I won't be able to join you two. If it's after 9 p.m. and before 11 p.m. tomorrow, I might. Otherwise, I'll join you guys next time.
