Stocks extend rebound after the Fed says it will buy individual corporate bonds, Dow up 200 points

Stocks surged on Monday, erasing earlier losses, as the Federal Reserve announced further measures to support the market amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 200 points higher, or 0.8%. The S&P 500 traded 0.9% higher while the Nasdaq Composite was up 1.4%.

The Fed said it would buy individual corporate bonds. Earlier this year, the central bank said it would buy corporate-bond exchange-traded funds. That announcement pulled the market back from the brink in late March. This latest announcement builds on that program and shows the Fed will continue to support credit markets during the coronavirus.
