detectors. You should not only change the battery but also clean it too because dust, bugs, etc., can affect the performance of your smoke detectors and/or cause it to malfunction. As long as the dust are blown off, it should be fine. This is what I've done in the past (blow the dust with hair dryer/compressed air and then wipe it down clean):
