PebHmong A Community of GIVING
« on: March 27, 2021, 05:01:24 PM »
Some of my favorite youtube channels are about helping the less fortunate, giving etc...  I came across this young Hmong couple who needed help.  I thought of Pebhmong community.... aside from bickering with each other, sharing ideas, playing, ...wouldn't it be great if we can also turn Pebhmong into a community of giiving, making a difference in someone's life, one person at a time.

Anyone interested in helping others if given the chance?

I've have and still is giving my time as well as money in several ways i.e., donate blood, make and pass out goodie bags for the homeless, volunteer at dining halls for the less fortunate, read and teach prisoners how to read, etc.

I've been busy and not meaning to neglect this thread I've started.  Yes, so I came across this young couple here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz6rRzvP-Fk&t=945s

As I was watching, I thought how wonderful it'll be if PH can turn into a community of giving, helping one family at a time.  I thought about the time THE KING wasted $200 on a tiny little steak, Dumas hitting the Casinos, and possibly who knows how many others throwing $$ away... If  we transfer that blessings  into changing lives OR if each of us can go on a coffee diet 1 day a week to help the less unfortunate, how beautiful it'll be.

I thought about the time THE KING wasted $200 on a tiny little steak, ...

Well worth it to me...but if you never tried it and just passing judgment based on your perception than it's like those that judge others base solely on race, religion, gender, etc.

Like a guy I knew that said, he doesn't want to waste money on papaya salad because just the thought of "fish sauce" makes him sick but he has never tried it.. ;D

I don't think they have gofundme page created or they don't know English. It'll be very difficult for me to contact them. :(
I'll help giving $$$ whenever they have someone who's fluent in English and know technology as well.

I'm sure it's a good steak and whomever selling knows it's a good steak.  But for me, I wouldn't spend that amount  on a steak.  It's wasteful spending to me and it's not that I can't afford it.  If I was rich, I'll probably live in a normal house, driving an old car that works, and wearing normal comfortable clothes and shoes....and give more of my money to help society, put to good use.  So, the steak to me is not putting money to good use therefore it's wasteful spending.  But I understand your point exactly and my "wasted" comments is relating to my philosophy of $$

I understand.  I've been thinking about what would be a good way to get & send money to the family that needed help.  I don't have the answer.  I thought about:  1) Creating a gofundme page specifically ONLY for PH community, not public, only for our community and then SEND the funds to the family.  2) People interested in donating can send $$ vie Palpal and then funds can be sent to family.  I don't mind volunteer getting 1 or 2 started.  I'm more comfortable with #2.  BUT the biggest thing is:  TRUST.  I know I have an honest intention but never know what's going on in people's mind.  So, like all things in life, to gain trust, you've got to built trust...

So my friend and to all PH members and anyone interested.... I'm going to take baby steps.....

Anyone that's interested in donating to that young family on the link I provided up there...  You can send your donation to my paypal and I will send the funds to help the young couple.  My email is:

Deadline of giving is:  Thursday April 8 and Friday April 9 funds will be sent outIn the meantime, I will connect with lady of the channel.

yes I am asking you to take a blind leap of faith on me until I gain your trust which will take a process, a while.

I've never done this before so I'm still learning too.... and in the process develop your trust and faith in me to get this going for all of us, to make this place a community of giving...

AND YES the KING, I will be asking you to skip one of your steaks, go on diet, and donate that over :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

OK, there!  I am nervous.  I am afraid.  I am vulnerable.  But it's something I believe in so here we go.....and let's see what happens...

HmongRock, I understand your point exactly.  I'm not familiar with Gofundme except general idea.   If you are more familiar, I don't mind you or anyone starting, really.  I don't care who started or send the funds.  Do you want to volunteer?  Can you volunteer?

In the meantime, I'll take a look at Gofundme, learn more about it.

Yes true you don't know my name and so many as well.  One thing I value alllllllllllll llllllllllllll llllllllllllll llllllllllllll llllllllllllot is my privacy.  To make PH a community of giving, I may have to give that up a little bit because my passion for helping others is equally important. So, I'm sacrificing alottttttttttt tttttttttttttt tttttt here.

I connected with Mrs. Num Lis, the lady of that channel and she said as of right now no one is lending a hand to help the young couple yet.

Too many cons and greedy people in Laos, people should donate cautiously if it’s going there. Dated back to the times before emails or internet, my family would hide money inside cassettes or sewn in a masked area of clothing and never make to intended people because owner of the addresses would go through everything before passing it to recipients. Instant money to Laos now and folks there treat folks here like atm machine.
