...Philadelphi ans and tourists alike flock to cheesesteaks spots across the city for the iconic sandwich. Cheesesteaks are just one of the city's most iconic sandwiches but in my opinion, they're the food many out-of-towners are the most excited to try.

According to an oral history of the cheesesteak by Philadelphia Magazine in 2008, the cheesesteak was invented by Pat Olivieri in 1930, the same year he opened Pat's King of Steaks in South Philadelphia.
