« on: July 15, 2022, 07:23:12 AM »
Made of wood, it stretches over the Nishiki River in Western Japan.

Like that's very important to know...

The first structure is the stone pillars then the wooden arches then the metal rings that hold them in place. I notice right away the woods were carved by professional carpenters.

No nails were used to hold the wood pieces together.

Yes, no nails to bind the wood pieces. Apparently these woods were layered and stacked. They do use metal nails afterward just in case earthquake and tsunami do occur.

Nawh. Nails won't hold. Tsunami rockings are handled by moveable poles that float along the vibrations on the earth. That way the bridge dances instead of being knocked down.

That's very impressive stuff.
