You must not shop Rockboy. Prices have been like that for months. A carton of 18 is now between $5-$6. Chicken prices are still low

I get mine from a co-worker that has chickens... I get about a dozen for $1.25. These are eggs that are not washed or chemical treated. Of course they're not white and evenly sized like that one you buy at the store, some are smaller and some are bigger.

I never got used to the orange vs yellow yolk. That being said I've factored in convenience into pricing. I'm not complaining like Rockboy.

That's true... Home grown eggs tend to be differing in color and more of a orange yolk depending on the feed and breed of chickens. Majority of the commercial egg farmers used the same feed and breed of chicken, hence the pure white eggs and yellow yolk. I've also noticed that the 'organic' labeled eggs are brownish and more orange yolk too.
