St. PAUL — Motorcycle lane splitting and filtering are legal on Minnesota roads as of July 1. The new law, passed by the Legislature in 2024, allows motorcycles to share lanes with cars for the first time in the state, with notable restrictions on speed and where lane sharing can be performed.

oh dear, since it is new, I'm expecting for an increase in numbers of splitting the lane crashes.

It still take skills to learn how to split them lanes.  A few times, I don't even see them coming and I could of easily change lanes myself and cut a cycle guy off.

I'm a former rider myself and call me a rookie but I will stay behind a car when in traffic.   :2funny:

Why is it important for us motorcyclists?

Aside from lightening up traffic congestion, lane splitting has also been proven to be safer for riders. Those of us that ride regularly have seen and experienced those benefits on a regular basis.
