CA is just as bad... with their Hospice Care fraud, especially in LA County.
https://www.cbsnews.com/projects/2026/hospice-fraud/highlight:
- LA County saw a 1,500% increase in hospice companies since 2010... that's
1,500%. These fake companies overbilled Medicare approx. $105million/year
- LA County alone has 1,800 licensed hospices - more than 6 times the national average for a county of that size. 42% of these hospices still operating even though CA has outlined these as indicators of fraud.
- 500 hospices within a 3-mile radius, 89 hospices located in the same building. And out of those 89, only 12 had record of being active according to the building owner.
- Natonal average hospice bill per patient is around $13K, typical hospice in LA County bill Medicare an average of $29K/patient. The highest hospice bill in LA County is $74K/patient.
These are the kind of things I don't want my tax dollar going into... I would rather fund the war in Iran, at least it's something legit.
