I got the book and I read it.
My review:
There were some poems in Star Watchers that were OK but most of them were filled with fancy words. The poems were not constructed as well as I would have liked; I felt they lacked something more... maybe depth and substance? But for sure, they did not leave much to the imagination. I was looking to be enthralled, to have to dissect the deeper meanings; I wanted the book to make me pause. I wanted to feel and believe each poem consisted of good choice of words, that each line was structured beautifully to make up the whole, where the whole painted a picture and a story that left me pondering and fulfilled.
I felt it was a best attempt by the author and lots of glittery words were used. The book was supposed to be about poems that came together to tell a single story, yet, I felt the poems were disconnected.. . they weren't related.
One thing I will give the author though, and that is that she did a good job of focusing on the themes of love, darkness and deception... those themes did stand out.
I know I was too harsh but I was expecting more. I would like to hear other people's reviews.
