Teenager's death during police traffic stop sparks violent unrest in Paris suburb
A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed by police in the Paris suburb of Nanterre.

PARIS and LONDON -- French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin called for "calm" on Wednesday after a night of violent protests over a teenager's death at the hands of police in a Paris suburb.

"We want to have the whole truth about what happened, while respecting the time of justice," Darmanin said during a press conference.

A 17-year-old driver was shot and killed by a police officer on Tuesday morning during a traffic check in Nanterre, a suburb of France's capital. The officer remains detained on suspicion of manslaughter amid an ongoing investigation into the incident, according to the local prosecutor's office.

Kimberly Potter's attorney is asking the judge to lessen her penalty. Logically speaking it seems like the lawyer want $$$$ from Kimberly. It's funny how judiciary system works and it's all about money, money, money, instead of abiding to biblical law. Serve and protect were no longer applied to the community but rather serve to the hypocrites that run the states.

So, what sparks the shooting? So much that we don't know yet... I really hated it when people turn violence for a perceived action that had not been investigated thoroughly yet.

As we have seen over and over again, the media tends to overblow these incident and make it out to be what it's not and the police do have probable cause to use deadly force. Not all but majority of the time, the perp was as fault.

France sends in special forces to combat rioters

The unit, formed in 2021 as a rapid response force to tackle urban violence, consists of around 60 specialist officers trained to deploy from their base outside Paris within 15 minutes of the order being given.

- Grandmother of French teen shot dead by police officer pleads with rioters to stop the violence

PARIS (AP) — The grandmother of the French teenager shot dead by police during a traffic stop pleaded on Sunday with rioters to stop as the nation faced a sixth straight night of unrest, while authorities expressed outrage by the targeting of a mayor's home with a burning car that injured family members.

- France protests spread to Switzerland

Days of unrest and rioting in France have spread overnight to neighbouring Switzerland, after spilling over into Belgium earlier in the week. In the Swiss city of Lausanne, there were clashes between police and groups of protesters, most of them young – an echo of the profile of many of the rioters in France.
