Dear Life,

Clarity
by Lilly

Once upon a time long ago I stood there at the crossroads
My heart tearing in different directions
Not knowing what to do
I opened up a book of pictures
Pictures of moments and things in my life
The same pictures but only now I see them in a different light
But they were no help to show me the way
So, I stood there going over the pictures in that book of my life

After some time I put the book down, sat down and started thinking
Thinking about what to do
Which way would I choose?
Whose heart would I break? My own?  His?  Hers?  Theirs?
Alas, I did not know what to do
Not knowing which direction to make my step
I sat there at the crossroads
The day turned into night

The rain fell on me
The white snow was felt on my fingertips, it made me cold
I was sick with a fever that threatened to take my life
At last, ‘life’ returned to my body
But even when the yellow sun came up and melted the water from me
One fact remained, and that is that I remained
There, at the crossroads
In that same spot of what to do
But as the days turned into nights
As months turned into years
Clarity
At last, crept up on me
Like a clogged up IV, Clarity was slow
But it did finally make its way to me

Now that I see with great big open eyes
Eyes that see things for what they are
Eyes that see the truth, and the black and white
The disease has finally been expelled from my body
And I am ready to go on with my journey
No longer am I at a crossroads

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. ~ John Wooden

Let the sun shines in and weave out the old
Let the unknown path leads you to a new beginning
A bright new future will hold and embrace you once again
Open your heart and mind
Compare not of you and others
Forget not of your journey
We live and we learn
From the past into the present
From the current into the future
Fear not, brave up and you will see
No inner fear and full of courage

Sweet Guava
by Lilly

Oh, Guava, you are one of the things I hold dear
You speak to my heart like no other fruit
No other can compare!
A bite of you sends my taste buds to heaven and back
Without meaning to, each bite is savoring
Sweet and tart is your subtle charm
I can’t help but to inhale in and savor your unique, exotic fragrance
As my teeth plunges into your meat
Your seeds attack back
Almost breaking a tooth
Damn you, I say
I hate you!
I am with fright
What if I really lose a tooth?!
Whatever will I do?
Curse you?
Oh, no, but I dare not
For you are the only thing that eradicates sadness
And returns happiness
At any moment’s notice
You are the antidote to the impending tear
You miraculously erase all fears
You make my heartache seem much lighter
You’re like a calming, whimsical song
Strings of violin, such sweet symphonies!
Effortlessly you fulfill me
What is it about you that I love?
Why do you have such a hold on me?
It’s like you can see right through me!
Oh, sweet Guava, I love you so
Please promise me this
That you shall never go
Always stay by my side
Through all the seasons
May you always be found in great abundance
And though you cost a lot
I shall sacrifice my earnings!
There is such a joy upon the sighting
Of your pale green skin!
Always, I am like a kid on Christmas morning
With such great anticipation
To taste you, to eat you
Always and forever!
