25. And1
I call it And1. Some call it streetball. I prefer to call it And1 because of the Mixtape Tour and because not all street ballers play by And1 rules. However, we currently live in a basketball culture heavily influenced by And1. Unfortunately, even though And1 had such a huge influence on the game, the company is still quite behind other brands.
A lot of pickup games don't play And1. This is because a lot of people are just looking for friendly competition. And1 is more showboating. As a result, you will see people do more of this style on the last few games of the night. Ever notice the dunk ratio going up as the night ends? Well, dunk attempts.
Some And1 moves transfer over to regular games. Most of the time, if the move is done fast enough, people will accept it. If the same move is done slowly or awkwardly, people might call it. There are some strict courts that dislike And1 moves. However, cupping/palming/underhanding/redirecting the ball has almost become the norm; that's how most people do a crossover.
