A two states have been on the table multiple times and each time, the Palestinian denied it.
- The Peel Commission (1936): Recommended partitioning the land into a Jewish and an Arab state.
DENIED!- The UN Partition Plan (1947): Proposed dividing the British Mandate of Palestine into two states, one Arab and one Jewish.
DENIED! - The Camp David Peace Proposal (2000): Proposed by the US, it would have established a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip with East Jerusalem as its capital.
DENIED!- Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's offer (2008): Included a land-for-peace deal involving the establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip with East Jerusalem as its capital.
DENIED!Why did the Palestinian DENIED a two states solution?
- Some attribute the rejection to a refusal to accept a Jewish state at all. Palestinian refused to allow Jewish living in that region.
- Others highlight that the terms of the proposals were often unfavorable to Palestinians, because Palestinian lacks true sovereignty and self-determination.
- A 2020 survey indicated that most Palestinians at that time rejected the two-state solution, favoring instead the regaining of "all of historical Palestine for the Palestinians," though a significant portion of Gazans did opt for the two-state solution.
They want one state, Palestine only, and removed Israel from the Middle East. They truly believed that the land is theirs and Jews came from Europe.
It's also important to note that the Palestinian leadership, particularly the Palestinian Authority, currently champions a two-state solution as the only viable path to peace and security. Recent international conferences have also reiterated the two-state solution as the internationall
y-backed framework for resolving the conflict. The PA has more power in the West Bank (hence Israel and the West Bank are not into fighting as much as Gaza), Gazans elected Hamas as their leaders.
History: The current Palestine is not the same as the Bible's Philistine which were the original people occupying that land. With multiple wars between them and Israel, they were driven out and nothing was told about them anymore. However, the Roman Empire renamed the province of Judea to Syria Palaestina (later shortened to Palestine) after the Bar Kokhba revolt in 135 CE. This renaming was a deliberate act intended to sever the Jewish connection to the land and suppress their national identity... kinda like, putting a middle finger in the face of the Jews because the Philistine and Jews were mortal enemy for the longest time. The current Gazans or Palestinian are Arabs Muslims from the surrounding Muslim countries (Jordan, Egypt, Syria, etc etc). There's no such Palestinian race or culture... they're made up of different clans of Arabs.
The Muslim Quran talked about the 'land of the Israel' as the heritage of the Jewish people and is recognized as their homeland. The Quran never mentioned Palestine once. So, even the Palestinian's own religion denied them that land.
